Planning, managing and monitoring a Hardware and Software Roll-out for Fund Services & Private Banking

Starting Point

The bank had set up a project to upgrade workstations throughout the company to current operating system versions and Microsoft Office products.
In addition, individual solutions that supplemented Microsoft products with important functions and evaluation options for business processes, had to be tested for compatibility and adapted.
The two core areas of the bank, “Fund Services” and “Private Banking”, were asking for external support due to the complexity of their business and system landscape.

Approach

Inventory of the individual software solutions in place as well as initiating and coordinating adjustment measures in the event of incompatibilities.
Creating a database for the compilation and consolidation of test results, tickets and roll-out planning data.
Planning, managing and monitoring of the software tests in the new operating system environment (thin clients with Windows 7 and MS Office 2010), in particular selecting and onboarding the pre-pilot and pilot users as well as tracking and consolidating the test results.
Tracking, evaluating and prioritizing tickets; escalating to overall project management level, if required.
Planning, managing and monitoring the hardware and software roll-out in Luxembourg as well as in the German branches (incl. updating mobile devices such as RAS laptops and BlackBerrys).
Supporting the business side and providing a 1st level support during and after the workstation transition.

Deliverables/Benefits

Updated individual software solutions that run in the new system environment.
In-time and smooth migration of more than 500 workstations (> 60% of the bank) to the virtualized system environment (incl. trouble-free migration of RAS laptops and BlackBerrys).
Updated high-performance virtualized workstation solutions.
