Developing and implementing a CAO Database for Asset Management

Starting Point

  • Asset Management was based on information from multiple data sources with different degrees of timeliness and the data sources were distributed across numerous platforms.
  • There was no transparency regarding the data used and to be processed.
  • Only by manually connecting individual data it was possible to identify correlations and effects.
  • The development and implementation of an IT-supported solution was desired.

Approach

  • Identifying relevant data sources and check for timeliness.
  • Identifying inconsistencies between different sets of data.
  • Developing a CAO (Certificate of Authenticity) database that can automatically read data from different data streams, combine related data fields and store them on a central database, enable tracking of all data by automatically logging data history, and have a graphical interface to interact with the end user.

Deliverables/Benefits

  • Elimination of manual processes through implementation of the CAO database.
  • Possibility to react quickly to changes in the asset management area and to analyze changes.
  • Possible transfer of data from the CAO database to the asset management dashboard.
