Starting Point
- In the various departments of Clinical Development, processes were modeled using different notations and different levels of detail.
- After the company had decided to standardize the process documentation and to use BPMN 2.0 notation across the company, an initiative was launched to convert the core processes of Clinical Development and the supporting service processes into a hierarchical process model according to BPMN 2.0 standard.
Approach
- Creating a high level process landscape for Clinical Development to provide orientation and completeness.
- Developing a hierarchical process model for Clinical Development according to BPMN 2.0 standard, including the assignment of responsible roles and essential IT systems.
- Completing and approving process flows based on interviews and process workshops with Subject Matter Experts.
- Consolidating the results and developing recommendations for possible improvements.
- Creating a concept for the support and continuous maintenance of the process model.
Deliverables/Benefits
- High level process landscape for Clinical Development.
- Hierarchical process model according to BPMN 2.0 standard for Clinical Development, including further detailed process information (e.g. responsible roles, essential IT systems).
- Recommendations for possible improvement measures.
- Pragmatic concept for maintaining the process model.
